UTS Paws - Rebrand + Logo

Project Subtext

From DogSoc to PAWS

A merge with CatSoc.

A merge with CatSoc.

At the end of 2022, CatSoc had disaffiliated and DogSoc were in talks to merge / absorb their assets and form a new society.

I was part of the rebrand and merger - and developed new branding to help cement the society.

UTS Paws was no longer Dog or Cat focussed - we wanted to ensure students knew we were now about all pets big and small.

This was a large part of the branding - alongside a key tonality that was warm, welcoming, and cuddly!

The first step was devising a logo - and after a lot of brainstorming we settled on a design that worked well as a main logomark with a more formal text variant and was unique whilst retaining our key values and tonality.

O'day.

O'day.

A huge piece of our launch as a new society was ensuring that we made a big impact at UTS Open Day. This was a big opportunity to stand out amongst other Societies and so we offered a raffle and pet-drawing services to garner interest.

I designed a brand new banner which was placed outside the stall, as well as flyers to hand out during the event. All 300 went super fast so we ended up having to print another 300 more!

Retaining interest.

We ensured to advertise our socials as some students were not immediately ready to join a new society before seeing our events - so we encouraged them to follow our socials so that they could keep in the loop with our events and sign up when they were ready. We got over 200 signups throughout the year!

We had some signs up at the stall to advertise our open positions - too.

We would often also do thank you posts with featured images from the events - to advertise what happened at them!

Style Guide

Style Guide

As part of the new branding, a simple style guide was devised by me for futureproofing and consistency with our branding and visual identity.

Leading the team.

Throughout the year, I gained a small team of designers to work with to create social media posts and advertise upcoming events.

Keeping the style guide handy, we used Marketing Timelines and consistent visuals to give our Society a unique look and a familiar visual flair.

We often made the most of Instagram carousels with 3-part posts that look great in the feed and count down to an event!
